NEWS - 2nd TriticeaeGenome Annual Meeting at Sabanci University + 1st EAB meeting (Istanbul, Turkey)

The 2nd TriticeaeGenome project annual meeting was held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 12 to 14 April 2010. The meeting was organized at Sabanci University (SU) with the help of INRA Transfert. Financial support for the meeting was provided by the European Commission in the framework of FP7-TriticeaeGenome and SU.

Forty three participants attended the meeting. The meeting began with a presentation of Sabanci University by Professor Nihat Berker (SU president); a presentation of the TriticeaeGenome project and other initiatives by Catherine Feuillet (INRA, TriticeaeGenome coordinator); and a presentation of the SU BioProgram and information regarding the meeting planning by Hikmet Budak (SU).
The first day meeting was dedicated to the WP7 Management session lead by Emmanuelle Lagendijk (INRA Transfert, France), WP1 workshop lead by Catherine Feuillet (INRA, France), WP2 workshop lead by Nils Stein (IPK, Germany) and WP3 workshop lead by Laura Rossini (UMIL, Italy). The second day meeting was dedicated to WP4 workshop lead by Sébastien Faure (Biogemma, France) on behalf of Sébastien Praud, WP5 workshop with tools demonstration lead by Delphine Steinbach (INRA, France) on behalf of Klaus Mayer (HMGU, Germany) and WP6 Dissemination session lead by Alan Schulman (MTT, Finland). The objectives of these workshops were to present and discuss the results obtained since the beginning of the project, prepare the project mid-term review, evaluate achievements and assess potential risks for each WP, identify areas to be improved and potential reorientation of tasks in view of new technological developments and discuss about the future “post TG” projects.

The second day, a meeting with 4 members of the External Advisory Board (EAB) and the Executive Committee (ExC, composed of the WP leaders) was organized. The goal of this meeting was to discuss and have the opinion of the EAB members on all relevant important scientific issues of the TG project. This meeting also permitted to discuss and begin to prepare the project mid-term review to be held in September in Brussels.
