WP Leader: Dr. Laura Rossini (UMIL, E-mail: laura.rossini@unimi.it)
WP3 aims to isolate five agronomically important genes and QTLs (Quantitative Trait Loci), 4 in wheat and 1 in barley. For each specific site of a particular gene, on its chromosome (locus), WP3 will integrate information and tools developed in WPs 1, 2, and 5 to achieve the following objectives:
For the first project year, WP3 partners have focused on establishing the genetic and molecular resources needed for fine genetic mapping of the targeted genes and QTL through (1) the construction of high-resolution mapping populations and (2) the collection of molecular markers in the target regions and the evaluation of their polymorphism in the parents of the mapping populations.
Deliverables:
D3.1: High resolution mapping of the 5 genes and QTL (May 2011)
D3.2: Identification of candidate genes on the MTP contigs (May 2011)
D3.3: Validation of candidate genes for YrH52, uniculm4 and S. nodorum resistance QTL by VIGS and/or allelic comparisons (May 2012)
D3.4: Validation of candidate genes by stable transformation (QTL, YrH52) (May 2012)
D3.5: Allelic diversity and expression analysis of candidate genes for uniculm4, grain yield and Stagonospora nodorum QTL (May 2012)
